makeup training #2 - smokey eye

this look is a bit more intense than the first one.
a bit more 'rock chick' if you like.

I don't have any creme eye colours so I used a bit of kryolan creme blush - it's only to add texture anyway.

Kryolan shimmery black e/s
DB designer brands eyeliner pencil in black
graftobian foundation as concealer
benefit get bent lash mascara
chi chi mosaic bronzer in dark
mix of kryolan blush in golden pink and timber
chi chi lipliner in mischief
mix of pink sizzle and blush sparkle lip colour - don't know the brand
kryolan lip gloss in clear
i also used a little boujois paris translucent loose powder cos my skin tends to get a little shiny

this is what samantha's looks like:
(not a great photo grab, sorry)

this is how mine turned out:

i had to shoot this mini photo shoot myself as my resident photographer was out for the day.

makeup training #1 - defined eye

my first go at recreating a pixiwoo tutorial...check it out at:
http://www.youtube.com/pixiwoo#p/u/166/l4nidDH6bHg
http://www.youtube.com/pixiwoo#p/u/163/WGidWMWSDrE
(the tutorial is in two parts)

i use my own brush roll which is a mixture of brushes bought at the vic uni student shop, IMATS in sydney, and priceline pharmacy.

the products that i use are whatever i have in my kit that is similar to what the pixiwoo girls use. hopefully down the track when i have some more cash i'll be able to afford to buy the products that they use.

samantha's product list:
chanel mat lumiere foundation
MAC shroom and graphology e/s
MAC kohl eyeliner pencil in blooz
bobbi brown longwear gel eyeliner in black
l'oreal voluminous mascara
MAC mystery and omega e/s for brows
bobbi brown university palette concealers
cornflour blue pigment

my product list:
mix of rimmel renew & lift in soft beige and rimmel stay matte in ivory
kryolan e/s colours in mushroom and black
DB designer brands black eyeliner pencil
kryolan wet/dry cake eyeliner
l'oreal telescopic mascara
i didn't use anything on brows 'cos as you can see i don't really need it!
graftobian cream foundations for concealer
limecrime pigment in shoe addict

here's what samantha's looks like...

and here's how mine turned out...

i found this look to be relatively easy to do and simple enough that i could wear it out to a makeup job i had that evening and also to drinks with friend after that. by the time i got home though, the e/s had creased a little and the kohl eyeliner on the lower waterline had worn off. a result of the warm weather perhaps?

here's a mini photo shoot of the makeup in our backyard. i put on a little masquerade translucent powder and she lip gloss in raspberry for the shoot.
all photography by danny cisco.

welcome to pixiwoo makeup training

pixiwoo is the online name describing the awesome english makeup artist sister duo that is samantha and nicola. they have a popular youtube channel where they upload amazingly helpful how-to video tutorials on makeup, hair, skin care and tips on becoming a makeup artist. i absolutely love their work and since i can't afford to fly to london to do their makeup course i thought i'd undertake my own pixiwoo training here in melbourne...
